We are currently seeking a talented individual to become a Bellman/Doorman. An individual could be successful if they possess the following.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Bellman/Doorman is responsible for meeting and greeting guests, assisting with baggage upon arrival and departure, room drops, luggage holds and assisting with transportation requests while delivering. Always presents a friendly and professional image at the Hotel/Casino.The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
  • Provides impeccable guest service to all guests
  • Opens the doors for arriving and departing guests.
  • Greets and assists arriving guests with help unloading luggage from vehicle and transporting to their room, personally carrying the luggage or using a luggage cart.
  • Assists departing guests by transporting luggage from room to lobby, and helping the guest load luggage into vehicle.
  • Explains accommodation appointments and equipment to guests upon entry into guest's room; informs guests of proper operation of room locks, televisions and thermostats.
  • Responds to guests' requests, complaints or inquiries courteously and promptly.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Company facilities, as well as special events on property, in order to advise guests of same, whenever possible.
  • Possesses a good working knowledge of all room locations, types, and special features; maintains information on all outlets, including hours of operation, and local attractions.
  • Remains receptive and visible for guest service at all times.
  • Maintains the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Responds to guest needs by promptly delivering laundry, newspapers, additional linens, etc., in person.
  • Responds to inquiries and promotes the hotel's services by explaining products/services. Provides the guest with up-to-date hotel information in order to enhance guest relations.
  • Keeps abreast of local activities and the area's establishments in order to answer questions, recommend and give directions.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times not just with guests and teammates, but also with passersby whose first impression of the hotel will be the people standing outside.
  • Ensures bell carts, lobby areas and entrances are clean and free of debris in order to present a clean and attractive facility to guests
  • Assists other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department and hotel.
  • Follows established procedures and policies of the Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Guest service experience preferred.
  • Bell Person experience preferred.
  • Must be able to perform the physical job duties of all Bell Person team members.
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have acceptable driving history as determined by Oaklawn Jockey Club.
