About This Role

Great Beginnings Early Learning Center is a family-owned, faith-based preschool in Alexandria, Virginia, dedicated to nurturing the academic, social, and spiritual development of young children. We are currently seeking a compassionate, engaging, and experienced Pre-K Teacher to join our team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our students.

The Pre-K Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing a cohesive teaching plan using the A Beka Book curriculum along with supplemental materials. This role includes leading a structured, engaging classroom environment that prepares children ages 3.5 to 5 years old for Kindergarten - academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our ideal candidate understands the developmental needs of preschool-aged children and is passionate about creating a safe, stimulating, and faith-centered learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, grow, and succeed.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans aligned with the A Beka Book curriculum
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Pre-K classroom
  • Foster children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development
  • Maintain a structured, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment
  • Effectively supervise and guide Teacher Assistants and Aides
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities
  • Document daily activities, care, and developmental updates using the Brightwheel app
  • Conduct parent conferences and complete developmental assessments
  • Ensure full compliance with all center policies and Virginia licensing standards

Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
  • CDA or Associate’s Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE or a Child Related Field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check and must pass the health screening.
  • Lesson Planning and Implementation
  • Ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels.
  • May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl (lift up to 25 lbs.).
  • Must maintain sight and sound of children in care at all times to ensure safety and protection of children.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
