About Sinopec

Sinopec Canada is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a major International upstream oil and gas company, Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration and Production Corporation (SIPC) headquartered in Beijing, China. Sinopec Canada has been an active participant in the Canadian energy industry since 2005.


Primary Purpose of Position

The Marketing Representative supports the commercialization of Sinopec Canada's natural gas, crude oil, condensate, natural gas liquids (NGLs), and sulphur production. The role contributes to maximizing portfolio value through commodity marketing, market analysis, commercial execution, and market access optimization. Through the evaluation of market opportunities, transportation alternatives, and commercial arrangements, the position supports informed business decisions and the effective marketing of the Company's production portfolio.


Role Responsibilities

  • Support the marketing, transportation, and optimization of Sinopec Canada's natural gas, crude oil, condensate, NGL, and sulphur production.
  • Coordinate commodity sales, scheduling, nominations, and logistics activities to ensure reliable market access and maximize commodity value.
  • Support the marketing and evaluation of sulphur sales opportunities and emerging market initiatives, including LNG-related opportunities, to enhance commodity value and market access.
  • Monitor commodity markets and analyze pricing, transportation, and commercial opportunities to support commercial decision-making and netback optimization.
  • Prepare commercial reports, market analysis, forecasts, and business evaluations to support decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with purchasers, marketers, pipeline companies, transportation providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the negotiation and administration of commodity sales and transportation agreements.
  • Collaborate across the organization to identify opportunities that improve portfolio value, commercial performance, and market access.

Position Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of the Gas Control function, as well as familiarity with sales and transportation of crude oil and condensate.
  • Familiar with NGTL/NOVA, TC Energy and Alliance systems, and crude oil/NGL transportation infrastructure.
  • Experience working with commodity sales contracts, transportation agreements, and production marketing activities.
  • Experience working with Western Canadian natural gas and liquids markets.
  • Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Joint Operating Agreements and commercial agreements
    • Midstream and transportation arrangements
    • Economic analysis and commercial evaluations
    • Upstream production and development planning processes
    • Commodity scheduling and transportation systems such as Petrotranz
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate commercial opportunities and translate information into actionable insights.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and build productive working relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Commerce, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in oil and gas marketing, commodity marketing, commercial operations, scheduling, transportation, or related roles.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Experience with commercial reporting and economic analysis.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
