 Montessori Kids by OneHealth is committed to improving and revolutionising the way mental health is delivered by providing a broad range of therapeutic and integrated services for all ages.  We’re dedicated to not only improving mental health solutions but making mental health care accessible for all. OneHealth  is currently recruiting talented individuals to join our expanding team as Behavioural Therapists for our Autism program located in Ottawa, ON. This is NOT a remote position. Our team is growing and we are looking for highly motivated individuals who are ready to gain hands-on experience working with children on the spectrum.

Behavioral Therapist

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working 1:1 with children with developmental disabilities to increase their skill development based on individualized programming
  • Learning and maintaining ethical standards of practice
  • Opportunity to work towards accreditation and gain supervised hours
  • Exposure to community events and professional development opportunities
  • The flexibility to work in multiple environments including: center-based, school-based, daycare-based, or home-based settings

  • We are located in Bells Corners
  • Implement behavior intervention and therapy programming for children with disabilities
  • Conduct assessments (VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS, PEAK, etc.)
  • Supporting children while delivering direct ABA-based programming in a center-based, home-based, school-based, or community-based setting
  • Preparation of teaching materials for assessments and daily programming
  • Implementing programs on a daily basis, monitoring progress, and the effectiveness of the individualized programs
  • Involvement in staff training, professional development opportunities, and behavioral assessments
  • Basic hygiene care (changing clothes, diapers, bathroom breaks)
  • Recording data daily
  • Providing updates to the parents for each assessment and program
  • Ability to show compassion towards others
  • Excellent communications skills to effectively and accurately interact with patients
  • Must possess an active-listening skill
  • Be patient with patients and other co-workers
  • Have and showcase very strong interpersonal skills
  • Must have the ability to work independently once assigned a case
  • Ability to analyze a client and implement treatment programs with little to no supervision
  • Must have the ability to work with families, healthcare professionals, counselors, and others
  • Ability to practice skills; from listening to interpretative skills

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Behavioral Science Technology Diploma, Autism Behavioral Science Certificate, Registered Behavioral Technician certificate, or related (preferred)
  • Degree/Diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Science, Education, Child and Youth Worker, or related field (required)
  • 6 months - 1 year experience working in a position with exposure to ABA techniques and strategies (preferred)
  • Previous experience with working with children, highly energetic, enthusiastic, positive, creative, and have great play skills
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 Lbs., must be able to sit on the floor with children, be engaging, be able to run, walk at a fast pace and be energetic.
  • Valid vulnerable sector check and CPR training is a requirement
