Behavioral Health Registered Nurse

Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Behavioral Health team. This role will be full-time day shift 7:00 am – 7:00 pm with a rotating weekend. Sign on bonus and relocation assistance available for external candidates who qualify.

With the demand for behavioral health services continuing to grow, IMVH extended our 30-bed behavioral health unit to 50 beds in mid 2023. The new 20-bed unit is designed with the specific needs of this specialized population in mind. Additionally, the current behavioral health unit was also upgraded and modernized.

As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will communicate effectively with patients, families, team members and medical providers. Demonstrating a willingness to learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience.
  • Education: BSN or ADN - If ADN then complete BSN within 5 years of start date
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association required
  • RN licensed, and eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Proficient in English, strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skill and the ability to display a caring demeanor towards others. Proficient computer skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Inpatient Psychiatric experience preferred
