Health & Wellness Paraeducator
INSITE

The Mankato School District has a position available for a Health & Wellness Paraeducator at INSITE beginning September 8, 2026. 

School hours are 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. 

Both full-time and part-time positions are available. Flexible scheduling options are available
Summary of Duties:
Under the supervision of a classroom teacher, the Health & Wellness Paraeducator promotes student independence and meaningful participation using evidence-based interventions for students with significant cognitive, developmental, physical, behavioral, and communication needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Care & Physical Support:
    • Assist with personal care needs, including feeding, dressing, and restroom support.
    • Support student transportation and mobility throughout the school day.
    • Help manage student medication needs under the guidance and delegation of the School Nurse.
  • Behavioral & Instructional Support:
    • Utilize evidence-based interventions to foster independence and active school participation.
    • Provide behavioral support and de-escalation as needed.
  • Community & Post-Secondary Transition:
    • Support students in developing post-high school, job, and employment skills.
    • Guide and assist students during community-based service learning and outings.
  • General Supervision:
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school principal.

Ideal Candidates

  • Compassionate and comfortable providing personal care
  • Able to perform physical aspects of the position safely
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred

Requirements: 

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria to qualify for this position:

  • Highly Qualified:
    • 60-semester credits (or two years full-time at an institute of higher education)
    • or an Associate's degree (AA, AS, AAS)
    • or must pass the Paraeducator assessment before the first day of employment

Pre-Employment Requirements

All final candidates must successfully complete the following prior to employment:

  • Physical Screening: Must pass a job-related physical screening.
  • Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check.

Pay:
Starting at $21.05 - up to $22.11 per hour (Based on experience in a public school setting).
Eligible Employee Benefits include: Effective on Day 1 for employees working 30+ hours per week.
