Job description

Job Title

Support Staff For Explorers Childcare Program

Assignment: Monday - Friday Position begins August 24th, 2026 through June 8th, 2027 (2026-27 School Year Calendar) Openings at Groveland, Clear Springs, Scenic Heights, and Minnewashta Elementary Schools - shifts from 2:30-6:00 PM. Openings at Excelsior and Deephaven Elementary Schools - shifts from 2:00-6:00 PM. Morning shifts (6:30-8:30am) may be available.

Wages and Benefits: $22.60 (additional $0.60 split shift differential for those working a morning and afternoon split shift) Medical and dental benefit eligible at 30 scheduled hours or more per week.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide support in by working one-on-one with a student identified as having difficulty participating in daily activities.
  • Assist student with necessary supervision during transitions, large and small group activities, and unstructured play.
  • Model appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with the lead teacher and other staff in the team to ensure the safety and success of all children.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with special needs or behavior challenges
  • Proven positive human relations skills with adults and students
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction and work as a team member
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative
  • Evidence of friendly, out-going personality.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proven record of punctuality and responsibility.
  • Experience supporting student instruction in the classroom preferred.

Physical Requirements: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
