Job description

Job Summary -ย Provide coaching for teachers to support school-wide and classroom positive behavior interventions and supports.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Increase student academic engaged time within the regular education classroom.
  2. Increase teacher efficacy and flexibility within the classroom through structure and classroom management.
  3. Decrease student out of school suspensions through implementation of alternatives to punitive discipline
  4. Actively engage in two-way communication with parents and families related to behavior improvement.
  5. Provide training and support to teachers to ensure expectations are taught, reinforced, and monitored at the school wide level.
  6. Provide training and support to teachers on the critical features and essential practices of behavior management in classroom settings.
  7. Communication of positive behavioral interventions and support activities at faculty meetings
  8. Collect, maintain and analyze behavior data
  9. Network with other behavior coaches, district PBIS coaches, and PBIS Coordinator.
  10. Support teachers to implement with fidelity evidence-based intervention strategies and intervention programs designed to improve the behavior of targeted students at all three tiers of intervention.
  11. Provide strong leadership to the school in positive behavioral interventions and supports.
  12. Coordinate intensive intervention plans and resources for students requiring tier 3 behavioral interventions

Physical Demands

  2. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
  3. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  4. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching

Education & Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree required
  2. Preferred Master's degree or National Board Certification
  3. Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of the research and practices related to school wide behavioral support, including applied behavioral analysis, and the ability to use a variety of observational and interviewing skills
  2. Previous experience with PBIS - Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports, including universal training

Licenses and Other Requirementsย  - Must hold a valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate
Days of Employment: 186-day contract
Salary:ย  Based on approved salary schedule by the Newport Board of Education
