Before School Assistant – Dater Montessori SchoolJob Summary

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health is seeking a Before School Assistant to support our school-age childcare program at Dater Montessori School by creating a safe, welcoming, and positive start to each child’s day. Starting in August!

The Before School Assistant works directly with children during morning program hours by supervising students, engaging them in age-appropriate activities, supporting positive social interactions, and helping children transition successfully into the school day.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, are dependable and energetic in the morning, and want to make a meaningful impact by helping children feel supported, confident, and ready to learn.

Location & Schedule
  • Dater Montessori School
    2840 Boudinot Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45238
    Monday – Friday | 6:45 AM – 9:00 AM
Key ResponsibilitiesChild Engagement & Supervision
  • Provide active supervision of children while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.

  • Build positive relationships with children through encouragement, consistency, and engagement.

  • Support children as they arrive and transition into the school day.

  • Lead and participate in morning activities that encourage creativity, social skills, confidence, and positive peer interactions.

  • Use positive behavior support strategies to encourage problem-solving and conflict resolution.

  • Engage with children in a warm, respectful, and supportive manner.

Program Activities & Support
  • Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate activities based on children’s interests, abilities, and developmental needs.

  • Support morning routines, including student check-in, transitions, and daily program expectations.

  • Help create an organized environment with engaging activities and opportunities for learning.

  • Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming program space.

  • Encourage positive choices and model appropriate behavior.

Family & Team Collaboration
  • Develop positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and program team members.

  • Communicate professionally with families and staff regarding children’s needs and daily experiences.

  • Work collaboratively with team members to support program goals.

  • Attend staff meetings, required trainings, and professional development opportunities.

  • Represent Best Point in a professional and positive manner.

Administrative & Program Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and complete required documentation.

  • Follow all safety procedures, program expectations, and childcare licensing requirements.

  • Maintain required health and safety training credentials.

  • Participate in quality improvement activities and program evaluations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Interest in working with children and supporting youth development.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to create a positive and supportive environment for children.

  • Reliable attendance and ability to work an early morning schedule.


Work Environment: Exposed to a combination of office, school and mental health treatment environments. Exposed to children with behavior problems. May be exposed to shouting and clients who may be verbally and physically aggressive. May be exposed to blood or vomit and bodily fluids.

Physical demands: The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of sustained exertion and be able to participate in the physical restraint techniques and exercises required to ensure safety of clients at all times.
