Description

The Ludlow Boys & Girls Club is looking for Group Leaders to work in its Before & After School Program starting in January.    The Before & After School Program is an EEC licensed school age childcare program. Interested candidates can apply for either Before School, After School or both.  

Job Title:   Group Leader

Salary:       $17.00/hour

Hours:        Part-time, non-exempt        Before School:  6:30 - 8:45 AM              After School:     2:30-5:30 PM 

Reports To:  School Age Director


The purpose of this job description is to report the functions, requirements, working conditions, and office responsibilities of the Group Leader.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Group Leader is responsible for providing supervision, guidance, and programming to children enrolled in our EEC licensed school age programs. Additionally, provide guidance, instruction, and support to Assistant Group Leaders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide high-yield activities and create an environment that engage youth and promote priority youth outcomes in the following areas:  academic success, good character & citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Provide positive role modeling to members.
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities, receive guidance, instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s). This includes actively engaging with members.
  • Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members.
  • Provide positive reinforcement & feedback.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities.
  • Follow the group schedule and actively participate in all scheduled activities. Ensure that transitions are safe & on time.
  • Ensure a productive work environment by actively participating in staff meetings.
  • Provide adequate supervision at all times and ensure a safe environment.
  • Maintain accurate attendance.
  • Provide first aid as needed and provide school age director with a clear, detailed injury report in a timely manner.
  • Enforce Club rules consistently and fairly.
  • May be asked to participate in special programs and/or events.
  • Show enthusiasm about all Club programs and activities, enthusiastically greet youth, family and adult members, and consistently reinforce and encourage honesty, responsibility, fairness and respect for members, parents and property.
  • Staff must be familiar with and comply with EEC regulations and staff qualifications.
  • Maintain close, daily contact with club staff (professional and part time), club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel.
  • Maintains contact as needed with external community groups, schools, member's parents and other to assist in resolving problems.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities.

Requirements

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education / Experience: High School diploma or GED. Must have 6 months experience working with children. 


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

Mandatory CPR and First Aid within 6 months of hire.

Experience in working with children

Knowledge of youth development

Ability to motivate youth and manage challenging behaviors

Ability to interact with the general public

Ability to plan and implement quality programs

Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work environment noise level is usually moderate to loud in an indoor and outdoor environment. General conditions include physical ability to lead and participate in group activities which include, but not limited to, swimming, team building, physical games, and activities. Promote essential childcare activities, which may include, but are not limited to, the following activities: reaching, sitting, and standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, squatting, stooping, twisting body and lifting an average 40lbs.
