Job Summary:

The Weft Insertion Threader is responsible for setting up, threading, and maintaining weft yarns on weft insertion knitting machines to support consistent, high-quality fabric production. This position ensures that yarns are properly threaded, tensioned, and aligned according to machine specifications, helping to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency throughout the production process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Must have previous WEFT OPERATOR EXPERIENCE.
  • Must follow all Plant Safety and Work Rules; Work safely, attend required safety training.
  • Follow specific instructions from the dept. Lead/Manager and or Supervisor.
  • Responsible for good housekeeping and safety.
  • Thread and align weft yarns through guides, feeders, and weft insertion knitting machine components according to setup instructions.
  • Prepare machines for production runs, assisting operators with start-ups, changeovers, and style changes.
  • Inspect weft yarns for defects such as knots, frays, or contamination before threading.
  • Respond quickly to yarn breaks or insertion issues to minimize downtime.
  • Verify correct yarn type, color, and lot numbers per production schedule.
  • Maintain proper yarn tension and monitor machine performance for consistent weft insertion.
  • Collaborate with operators, technicians, and quality personnel to troubleshoot production issues.
  • Maintain accurate logs of yarn changes, machine adjustments, and downtime.
  • Keep work area clean and organized; follow all plant safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including safe threading practices and PPE requirements.
  • Perform any other duties as directed by Supervisor/Mgr. or department Lead.
