Job description

BEFORE SCHOOL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL

Part-Time (10-15 hours per week)

Monday through Friday 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM

SALARY RANGE: $22.00 to $25.00 hourly

*This AM position may be combined with our PM position to qualify for full-time employment. Candidates interested in full-time opportunities are encouraged to apply for both roles.

Targeting the neighborhoods that need us most, Clubs ensure all youth have equal access to life-enhancing programming focused on academics, health, and leadership. At the Club, our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.


BE A LEADER IN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

A Before School Youth Development Professional (YDP) directly impacts the lives of our Club members by engaging in safe, interactive programs and learning experiences. The role assists in the daily delivery of a wide variety of developmentally appropriate youth programs and activities, including Education & Career Development, Sports & Recreation, Character & Leadership Development, Homework Support, and Specialized Initiatives.

A YDP is a self-motivated and positive individual who can balance an energetic, fun, youth-focused atmosphere with professionalism and maturity. A YDP serves as a role model for all Club Members and is expected to participate in all activities, motivating and inspiring our youth to engage as well.

BGCB is an ever-changing organization and strives to meet the fluctuating needs of youth and the community. Because of this, we are looking for flexible individuals who are comfortable in an environment where job responsibilities and location may be subject to change.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of Club programs and ensure quality youth engagement
  • Monitor and participate in youth activities to create a safe and positive learning environment for all Club members
  • Build meaningful, positive relationships with youth and families
  • Communicate professionally with Club members, parents, and staff
  • Model positive behaviors for children and staff

These responsibilities do not fully encapsulate the scope of the role. You may be asked to perform tasks not listed here and to provide coverage at other sites occasionally to maintain staff-to-youth ratios.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience working with youth, parents/guardians, and community partners
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma; some college preferred
  • Must pass National Background Check


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Six months to a year of previous experience working in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development setting
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin is a plus
