Job description

Description Position available for Fairfax County School Year 2025-2026. Staff will be responsible for supervising children at a before and after school program at the Stacey C. Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Blenheim Boulevard, Fairfax VA 22030.

Position reports directly to the Recreation Manager of the Sherwood Center. Position is considered temporary and will not be able to work more than twelve months consecutively. Monday - Friday, 7:15am-9:15am and/or 3:15pm -6:15pm (must be available at least three shifts a week).

Examples Of Duties Staff members must be at least 16 years of age and will be in charge of supervising a group of children. Staff will need to work well with other instructors to plan and implement daily activities for the children. Staff will start the day by picking up the children at Daniels Run Elementary School and walking them across the street to the Sherwood Center.

Their primary job will be to supervise a group of children with daily routines including but not limited to games, activities, homework and teambuilding. They also deal directly with disciplining children and talking with parents at pick-up. After-school Instructors are expected to be active and participate in any and all activities with the children.

Qualifications Graduation from high school or GED is desired. Staff members must be at least 16 years of age. Requires ability to deal courteously with the children and families, communicate effectively orally and in writing and ability to work unsupervised.

Supplemental Information Monday - Friday, 7:15am-9:15am and/or 3:15pm -6:15pm (must be available at least three shifts a week). No Benefits.
