Job description

Job Description
We are currently hiring a Packaging Operator in Milton, DE for 1st and 2nd shift rotating monthly.
The Packaging Operator runs packaging machinery to meet brewery needs and goals. This position trains throughout the Packaging Department to become skilled in operating all equipment within their designated work area. The ideal candidate has 1+ years of packaging/production experience and is a solid team player with a "get it done, can do" attitude.
What You'll Brew:
  • Safely and efficiently operate packaging machinery. Machinery types include, but are not limited to: Filler, Labeler, Box Maker, Packer
  • Utilize lean manufacturing methodologies in daily standard work to drive improvements in safety, quality, and overall line performance.
  • Follow manufacturing best practices, such as equipment center lining, visualization, and 6S.
  • Perform quality checks, testing, inspections, minor lubrication, and paperwork as required.
  • Fulfil sanitation duties. Requires the use of foaming equipment, hoses, brooms, shovels, brushes, scrapers, squeegees, and sanitation chemicals.
  • Develop and maintain a functional understanding of computer systems. Operate computers, automated equipment, fulfil administrative obligations, and input data as required.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment with a "Safety-First" approach. Assist other operators and departments in training, repair work and equipment operation as needed.
  • Operate forklifts as required.
  • Tolerate summer/winter temperature conditions and hot and cold room environments
  • Work and clean in confirmed space areas, such as the pasteurizer, after required permitting procedures are completed.

What Ingredients You'll Bring:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in packaging, production, or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Computer-proficient and able to learn and accurately use company systems and automated equipment.
  • Able to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime, including 12-hour days or nights.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
  • Work takes place in a busy industrial environment with dense production equipment and frequent forklift traffic, requiring strong situational awareness.
  • Exposure to constant loud noise.
  • Work areas may be non-climate-controlled, resulting in extreme heat or cold.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical exam; some roles require respirator use and fit testing.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sometimes repeatedly.
  • Prolonged walking and standing (up to 11 hours) on concrete, metal, or grated surfaces.
  • Frequent crouching, bending, twisting, climbing, stepping over obstacles, reaching overhead, and navigating tight spaces.
  • May require climbing stairs, working at heights, on elevated platforms, or in confined spaces.
  • Must wear required PPE (safety shoes, gloves, facemask, hearing protection, hard hat).
  • Requires manual dexterity for handling materials, operating equipment, and using computer systems.
  • Some positions (e.g., forklift operators) involve extended sitting and require strong peripheral vision and depth perception.

Level: 9
In accordance with pay transparency laws the pay rate for this role if hired is $22.40 - $25.50 per hour. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location.
