Position Summary
Garnet Hotels is seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing, and guest-focused Bartender for Applebee’s at our dual-brand Marriott property in Matteson, Illinois.
The Bartender will prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while providing friendly and attentive service. This position is responsible for beverage quality, responsible alcohol service, bar cleanliness, accurate transactions, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for every guest.
The ideal candidate has strong bartending experience, beverage knowledge, and a passion for hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
  •  Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional service. 
  •  Prepare beverages according to Applebee’s recipes and presentation standards. 
  •  Maintain knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages. 
  •  Recommend beverages, food pairings, and featured menu items. 
  •  Use suggestive selling to promote specialty cocktails and premium selections. 
  •  Verify identification and follow responsible alcohol-service requirements. 
  •  Monitor guest alcohol consumption and refuse service when legally appropriate. 
  •  Maintain a clean, organized, stocked, and guest-ready bar. 
  •  Accurately enter orders and process payments using the POS system. 
  •  Monitor liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and bar-supply inventory. 
  •  Communicate replenishment and ordering needs to management. 
  •  Prepare beverages for restaurant servers during busy periods. 
  •  Complete opening, closing, stocking, cleaning, and side-work duties. 
  •  Follow food-safety, sanitation, health-department, and liquor-control regulations. 
  •  Address guest concerns professionally and involve management when needed. 
  •  Work cooperatively with servers, kitchen associates, and hotel teams. 
Qualifications
  •  Previous bartending experience is required. 
  •  Strong knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, and beverage preparation. 
  •  Excellent guest-service and communication skills. 
  •  Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and beverage quality. 
  •  Cash-handling and POS-system experience is preferred. 
  •  BASSET certification or ability to obtain it upon hire. 
  •  ServSafe Food Handler certification or ability to obtain it upon hire. 
  •  Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. 
  •  Applebee’s, Marriott, hotel, or full-service restaurant experience is preferred. 
Physical Requirements
  •  Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. 
  •  Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. 
  •  Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements. 
  •  Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced bar environment.
