Job Summary
The Manager, Carcass Merchandizing & Production Planning provides leadership and coordination across carcass merchandizing operations and production planning activities for the network. This role is responsible for co-managing the order queue, overseeing cattle flow and grade projections within scheduling systems, and ensuring timely, accurate information is available to support production decisions. In addition, the position compiles recurring grade reports with actionable insights and trend analysis, partners closely with plant teams, Operations, USDA, and Production Planning to resolve issues and improve performance, and serves as a key resource for facility and managerial coverage during absences, emergencies, and weekend rotations. The role also supports consistency and compliance through audit oversight, training, and process improvement initiatives that strengthen operational continuity across locations.
Key Responsibilities

• Co-manage the order queue, ensuring smooth coordination and timely processing to support production needs.
• Oversee cattle flow and grade projections within the scheduling software, maintaining accurate and timely updates for production planning.
• Conduct scheduled and ad hoc audits of carcass grading and merchandizing procedures to ensure adherence to USDA and company standards.
• Compile grade results across the network and deliver recurring reports that provide actionable insights, trend analysis, and visibility to performance risks and opportunities.
• Report audit findings, recommend corrective actions, and support implementation of process improvements at the plant level.
• Provide training and guidance to plant teams on grading accuracy, camera systems, and reporting best practices.
• Collaborate with Production Planning, Operations, and USDA partners to resolve grading, merchandizing, scheduling, or planning issues.
• Participate in the Saturday rotation with the Production Planning team to remain closely connected to plant operations and support weekend business needs.
• Provide work relief in facilities when needed, including covering managers and stepping in for emergency coverage as required.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of grading standards, plant systems, scheduling tools, and company protocols.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Meat Science, Food Science, or a related field-or equivalent industry experience.
• 3+ years of experience in carcass merchandizing, grading, or plant operations.
• Familiarity with USDA grading standards and plant-level operating systems.
• Strong analytical, communication, and training skills.
• Ability to travel frequently to various plant locations.
