Job description

About Bedrock Data
Data is moving faster than security can keep up, fragmented across clouds, SaaS apps, and AI systems, without the context teams need to protect it. Bedrock Data built the industry's first Metadata Lake to solve this: a living map of all your data that shows what it is, where it lives, who's using it, and how sensitive it is, without ever moving the data itself. This lets enterprises automate security and governance at scale, making data protection continuous and invisible instead of manual and disruptive. Global leaders in technology, finance, healthcare, and biotech trust Bedrock Data to make data security operational. With a $25M Series A led by Greylock, Bedrock is led by repeat founders and technologists who built industry-leading enterprise platforms at Sumo Logic, Rubrik, and Cohesity. Learn more at bedrockdata.ai.
About the role
We're seeking a backend engineer to join our team, and are happy to consider applications of all levels. In this role, you'll be instrumental in building our cloud security platform. As an engineer, you won't just write code; you'll also wear an entrepreneurial hat. You'll collaborate closely with our leaders outside engineering, along with customers, partners, and investors, as we take our product from 0 → 1 → N.
Bedrock Security is the latest investment of Greylock Partners. Greylock has backed a number of successful startups, including Palo Alto Networks, Sumo Logic, and Abnormal Security, along with non-security companies such as Airbnb, Figma, and Roblox.
What you'll do
  • Design and Implement Backend Logic:
    • Create robust and scalable services.
    • Ensure service security and scalability.
    • Maintain our technology stack, including Golang, Python, Node, AWS infrastructure, Neo4j and more.
  • Move the Needle at a Scrappy Startup:
    • Work closely with other engineers, product management, marketing, and customers.
    • Contribute to architectural decisions and system design.
  • Drive Innovation:
    • Be part of the creative process, shaping the future of data security.
    • Propose and implement novel solutions to complex challenges.
  • Continuous Learning and Adaptation:
    • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies.
    • Adapt to changing requirements and business needs.

Compensation
Bedrock hires across a range of experience levels for this role. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $230,000 USD, depending on experience, scope, and leveling determined during the interview process. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for equity compensation and benefits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Proven experience as a backend engineer, preferably in security-related domains.
  • Proficiency in backend cloud technologies such as Java and databases (e.g., SQL, Neo4j).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take ownership.
