A Brief Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for researching, formulating, and reverse engineering skin, body, and hair care products, utilizing your expertise in cosmetic science and laboratory techniques. You will maintain precise documentation following standard laboratory practices and work on developing and optimizing manufacturing processes. Additionally, you will lead the laboratory scale-up of formulations, ensuring smooth transitions to production. A key part of the role involves staying current with new product chemistries and market trends to drive innovation and product development.
What you will do
  • Research, formulate, and reverse engineering of skin, body, and hair care products employing general cosmetic science and laboratory principles and techniques.
  • Develop manufacturing processes and manage laboratory scale-up formulations.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of experiments and formulations, following standard laboratory recording techniques and protocols.
  • Research new products, chemistries, and market trends.
  • Interact and communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Duties may vary slightly by location.

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related discipline or commensurate with experience (Preferred)

Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years Experience in cosmetic formulation and development (Required)
  • 1-3 years Experience with O/W, W/O emulsions, gels, pomades, shampoos, conditioners, body wash, hand soaps, mousses and OTC formulations (Preferred)
  • 1-3 years Experience with regulatory requirements as it pertains to cosmetic/personal care formulation (Preferred)

Skills and Abilities
  • In depth knowledge of principles of cosmetic science (High proficiency)
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision (Medium proficiency)
  • Good communication skills (Medium proficiency)
  • Prior experience in contract manufacturing desirable (Medium proficiency)
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret results, and make decisions that affect product development. (Medium proficiency)
  • Attention to detail, especially when conducting experiments and documenting findings. (Medium proficiency)
