Job description

Beagle is hiring a Property & Casualty Underwriter to evaluate, price, and bind risk across our P&C book. You'll own underwriting decisions end to end, from reviewing submissions and analyzing exposures to setting terms and pricing, and you'll help shape the guidelines and automation behind how we underwrite at scale.

This is a high-ownership role for an underwriter who wants more than a queue of submissions. You'll work directly with product and engineering to turn underwriting judgment into systems.

What You'll Do

  • Review, analyze, and underwrite new and renewal P&C submissions within your authority.
  • Evaluate exposures, loss history, and risk characteristics to determine acceptability, terms, and pricing.
  • Apply and help refine underwriting guidelines, appetite, and risk selection criteria.
  • Document underwriting rationale and maintain clean, auditable files.
  • Partner with agents, brokers, and internal teams to gather information and resolve questions.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and flag trends affecting profitability.
  • Work with product and engineering to improve underwriting workflows, rules, and automation.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on P&C underwriting experience [X+ years — confirm].
  • Strong risk analysis and judgment, with the ability to explain your reasoning clearly.
  • Working knowledge of P&C coverage forms, rating, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Comfort with data, spreadsheets, and underwriting or policy administration systems.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage a pipeline independently.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S
