The Impact You'll Have The Senior Director of Pharmacy serves as BCBSMN's primary strategic liaison between pharmacy, sales, and network teams while leading and developing a high-performing pharmacy team. This role is responsible for evaluating pharmacyrelated RFP opportunities, ensuring proposed solutions are viable, competitive, profitable, and operationally realistic. The position also leads pharmacy engagement with network partners, establishing solution frameworks, reviewing analytics, and collaborating with P&L owners to proactively manage performance.
This leader ensures BCBSMN delivers clinically sound, costeffective, and marketresponsive pharmacy and specialty benefit solutions while strengthening relationships across sales, network, operations, and our PBM partner. What You'll Do
  • Sales Liaison & RFP Strategy.
  • Evaluate pharmacyrelated RFPs for viability, profitability, competitiveness, and operational feasibility.
  • Develop and evaluate strategies for groups to help with total cost of care.Provide recommendations and push back on unrealistic, unprofitable, or nonaligned request elements.
  • Partner with Sales to shape pharmacy product & solutions that align with client and member needs, support clientfacing discussions, and finalist presentations.
  • Network Liaison & Solution Framework Leadership.
How You'll Do It
  • Collaborating with Network and P&L owners to design and implement programs and solutions that align pharmacy and provider strategies.
  • Reviewing analytics and utilization data to guide solution(s) performance supporting total cost of care goals.
  • Proactively managing solution performance and coordinate with Network, Analytics, PBM, and operational teams to optimize results.
  • Assemble and deliver group level reporting of plan spend, program performance, and impact analysis of proposed programs and solutions.
  • Pharmacy Program Leadership
  • Developing and implementing pharmacy and specialty benefit strategies that manage cost and improve member and provider experiences.
  • Monitoring industry trends and driving innovation in pharmacy services, benefit design, and operational effectiveness.
  • Performs additional responsibilities consistent with the scope and level of the role, as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of progressive health services experience with 3+ years of management experience.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Registered Pharmacist (R.Ph.) degree.

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Masters degree in related field
  • Ability to communicate strategic direction across departments, actively listen to address organizational challenges, and align leaders and stakeholders through clear and actionable guidance.
  • Ability to analyze cross-functional impacts, set clear priorities, and guide leaders to resolve high-impact challenges and improve outcomes.

  • Experience in triaging and resolving inquiries associated to claims and benefits.
  • Experience working Commercial, Medicare, and/or Medicaid.
  • Experience working with members/clients/patients on the phone.
  • Demonstrated project management and strategy development skill set.
  • Pharmacy quality measurement knowledge (e.g. Star Ratings, HEDIS).
Licensure/Certifications Required:
Pharmacist License - Minnesota State Pharmacy Licensing Board Role Designation Hybrid

Role designation definition:

  • Teleworking is working full time remote.
  • Hybrid is a minimum of 2 days onsite.
  • Onsite is full-time onsite.

Compensation and Benefits $152,900.00 - $210,300.00 - $267,700.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
