What are some common challenges Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) face when working in the USA, and how can they be addressed?

BCBAs in the USA often encounter challenges such as navigating insurance regulations, managing high caseloads, and effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Staying updated on state and federal insurance requirements is crucial, as coverage policies can vary and impact service delivery. Additionally, time management and prioritizing client needs are essential skills, especially when balancing direct therapy, supervision, and administrative tasks. Building strong communication with families and other professionals helps BCBAs ensure consistent implementation of behavior plans and foster positive outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) in the USA, and why are they important?

To thrive as a BCBA in the USA, you need a graduate degree in behavior analysis or a related field, completion of supervised experience, and BCBA certification. Familiarity with data collection software, behavioral assessment tools, and electronic health records is typically required. Exceptional analytical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills help BCBAs develop effective intervention plans and collaborate with clients and teams. These skills and qualifications are essential to ensure ethical, data-driven interventions that promote meaningful behavioral change and client well-being.

What is a BCBA in the USA?

A BCBA, or Board Certified Behavior Analyst, is a professional who is certified to provide and supervise behavior analysis services in the United States. BCBAs typically work with individuals with autism and other developmental disorders, creating and implementing behavior intervention plans based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles. To become a BCBA, one must earn a relevant graduate degree, complete supervised experience, and pass a certification exam administered by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

Job description

**Any applicants without a current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Certification will NOT be considered**

Ready to change lives from your couch (or wherever you like) while still making an impact in the field? Coyne & Associates is calling! Join us as a Hybrid BCBA Program Supervisor, where youโ€™ll make a big difference in little lives with the perfect blend of remote flexibility and hands-on, in-person support.

Why Coyne?

Coyne & Associates has been making a difference for over 20 years, but weโ€™re still small enough that youโ€™ll never feel like just another cog in the machine. With about 300 employees, youโ€™ll actually get to know your team, collaborate, and thrive in a close-knit, meaningful environment. Weโ€™re also owned by BCBAs, which means we understand exactly what you need to excel in this role.

Weโ€™ve got some serious bragging rights too: one of the highest-rated ABA agencies on Glassdoor, and a multi-year Top Workplaceโ„ข winner, including 2022 Top Workplaceโ„ข USA. Plus, we donโ€™t just train our staff, we train them right. Your technicians wonโ€™t be stuck behind a screen; theyโ€™ll be in the home, learning hands-on in real-life sessions. And yes, they get paid their full rate during training because we know how to keep great people around!

Whatโ€™s in it for you?

  • Competitive Pay: $88,000 - $95,000/year (DOE) - because excellence deserves compensation.
  • Hybrid Flexibility: A combination of in-person field visits and remote supervision, allowing you the flexibility to work from home or on the go.
  • Manageable Caseloads: 110 Billable Standard - You can actually have a life outside of work.
  • Monthly Team Meetings: Focused conversations and open-floor collaboration, because weโ€™re all in this together.
  • Dedicated Scheduling Team: You handle supervision, they handle the scheduling.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Including health, 401k, and up to 22 days of PTO per year + 10 paid holidays.
  • Professional Development: Paid professional development days, access to free CEUs through CASP, and ongoing mentorship to keep you growing.
  • PTO or Cash Productivity Bonuses: For 120+ field hours.
  • Tech & Tools: A MacBook and company iPhone to support your work.

Your Superpowers:

  • BCBA certified? Check! You're in good standing with the BACB.
  • Got experience? At least 1 year in a supervisory role preferred (bonus points if it's with kiddos on the spectrum).
  • Supervision guru? Youโ€™ve nailed the BACB Supervisor Training and are all about those 3 hours of supervision CEUs each cycle.
  • Leader material? Youโ€™ve got top-notch communication skills, can write a killer report, and manage a team like a pro.
  • Independent operator? Youโ€™re a deadline-meeting, time-managing machine, working solo with minimal oversight.

The Fine Print:

  • Must submit a transcript showing your Masterโ€™s degree and BCBA Certification.
  • Willing to submit fingerprints for DOJ and FBI clearance (weโ€™ll cover it).
  • Keep your TB test and BLS training up-to-date.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and all relevant safety, hiring, and discrimination laws.

At Coyne, weโ€™ve got over two decades of experience, but weโ€™re still small enough that your contributions matter. If youโ€™re ready to join a hybrid team that truly values your skills, flexibility, and work-life balance, apply today!

Compensation: Pay range represents a good-faith estimate the Company reasonably expects to pay at time of hire. Based on position, employees may also be eligible for incentives, drive time pay, mileage reimbursement, overtime pay in accordance with state and federal laws, last minute cancellation pay, 401k benefits, health benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and paid sick leave in accordance with state and local laws.
