A BCBA Consultant is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who provides expert guidance in assessing, developing, and implementing behavior intervention plans, typically for individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities. BCBA Consultants also train caregivers and staff to ensure long-term success in behavior management.

BCBA Consultants typically spend their days conducting functional behavior assessments, developing and updating individualized behavior intervention plans, and observing clients in various settings. They provide direct supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) or other staff, offer training to caregivers and support teams, and monitor progress using data-driven decision making. Regular collaboration with families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams is also a key part of the role. This combination of responsibilities allows BCBA Consultants to create effective interventions tailored to each client's needs and ensure consistent, high-quality care.

A BCBA Consultant must possess a master's degree in behavior analysis, psychology, or a related field, along with Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification and experience in developing behavior intervention plans. Expertise with data collection systems (such as Catalyst or CentralReach), functional behavior assessments, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) methodologies is essential.
