A BCBA Assistant, often referred to as a Behavior Technician or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement behavior intervention plans for individuals with behavioral challenges, often in autism therapy. They collect data, assist with skill development, and support clients in achieving treatment goals. Their role is essential in applying evidence-based behavioral strategies to improve clients' daily functioning and quality of life.

What are the typical responsibilities of a BCBA assistant?

As a BCBA Assistant, your daily responsibilities often include working one-on-one or in small groups with clients to implement individualized behavior intervention plans developed by a supervising BCBA. Becoming a BCBA assistant typically requires a relevant bachelor's degree, experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, and often some certification or training in behavior analysis. The role involves understanding ABA principles and may require supervision or mentorship from a licensed BCBA. The difficulty varies depending on educational background and experience, but generally, it involves a structured pathway of education and practical hours.

What does a BCBA assistant do?

A BCBA assistant supports Board Certified Behavior Analysts by implementing behavior intervention plans, collecting data, and assisting with client sessions. They often work directly with clients in therapeutic settings and may require knowledge of behavior analysis techniques and documentation tools.
