Job description

Description of Project
The Minnesota Department of Information Technology Services (MNIT) partnering with Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS), Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), is seeking one full-time Software Developer to work in the Minnesota Justice Information Services (MNJIS) section of the BCA. The Software Developer will assist State staff with rewriting and support for the BCA eDWI application including modernization and critical security updates. The Software Developer will work with planning managers, architects, business analysts, quality assurance analysts and agencies to define and transform business requirements into technical design and programming specifications conforming to the system architecture.
The Software Developer will implement enterprise solutions following established BCA patterns in application development and data security. Build, deploy and test software applications and modules using automated test and deployment technologies and tools. Provide direction in identifying appropriate technical solutions (application and system level) that meets business objectives, which include defining technical alternatives to derive the most cost-effective solutions to meet client requirements. Review test cases and test plans in conjunction with quality assurance staff. Execute unit and integration testing procedures.
At a high level, the resource will provide ongoing support, including functionality and critical security updates to the BCA eDWI application. This resource will also be required to assist in training on integration of the eDWI application. The work is expected to follow BCA's hybrid approach, requiring Mondays and Tuesdays in the office, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays work from home. The on-site work location is at 1430 Maryland Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55106.
Mode of Interview
The State will conduct interviews. The State reserves the right to remove a resource from consideration if the resource is unavailable for interview as requested by the State. Interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.
Project Schedule
  • Anticipated Project Start Date: March 17, 2025
  • Anticipated End Date: March 16, 2027
The State retains the option to extend the work order in increments determined by the State.

  • Clearly communicate highly technical concepts, and to introduce new technological tools or methods
  • Establish strong business partnerships with senior MNJIS team members and with criminal justice and technical staff
  • Provide knowledge transfer.
