Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION
As Accountant at Bayou Bend Health System, you are under the general supervision of the Controller. The Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounts payable clerk, the accounting department and works with department directors, managers, supervisors and hospital staff as required. This position has no direct reporting employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Assists with preparation of 1099's and W2's
  • Prepares bi-weekly FTE report & other payroll related reporting as assigned
  • Accounts Payable support/backup
  • Completes reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Responsible for fixed asset records including additions, disposals and recording of the appropriate depreciation
  • Prepares and posts monthly journal entries as assigned
  • Maintains amortization and/or prepaid schedules as assigned
  • Assists with annual audit and cost report
  • Responsible for miscellaneous accounts receivable invoicing, payment posting and reconciliation
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly sales tax returns and SUTA returns
  • Completes daily, monthly, and annual reporting of statistics, including journal entries
  • All other responsibilities as assigned and deemed necessary by the Controller/CFO
DESIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • College graduate with a degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • 2-5 years' work experience in accounting industry; healthcare industry preferred.
  • Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word.
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and oral
