Job description

Summary

The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a patient-focused Medical Assistant II to support the Cardiology clinic in Fannin Tower. The ideal candidate will have a passion for assisting patients with clinical questions, refill requests, and care coordination. 

Job Duties
  • Provides clinical support for patient questions via MyChart and LiveAnswer telephone calls.
  • Supports clinical administrative duties such as order entry, scanning medical records, and prescription refills as authorized.
  • Provides direct patient care by rooming patients following established protocols and performing EKGs.
  • Assists with insurance pre-authorizations or issues.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, AMCA, AAH, AAMP, or NPS).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Cardiology experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Patient facilitation skills.
