Sr Eng PCT IT Network - Berkeley, CA As a Senior Engineer PCT IT Network, you are responsible for designing secure and highly available compute platforms, servers, and networks; you fully or partly design, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the company’s service environment, depending on the service delivery model; you play a key role in maintaining the ongoing reliability, performance, and support of infrastructure services that enable safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations across the Berkeley site. Your Tasks and Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of this role, Sr Eng PCT IT Network, are to: Design secure and highly available compute platforms, servers, and networks; Maintain and perform lifecycle management of Berkeley OT infrastructure networks, including firewalls, servers, server virtualization platforms, and other network components, and implement global solutions; Maintain and manage the lifecycle of production networks on the Berkeley site, including fiber networks and servers, and ensure production IT security in line with the IT blueprint; Ensure the production network is maintained in a GxP-qualified state, including qualification of new hardware/software and periodic reviews of user access; Ensure the production network is compliant with global production IT security standards, including monitoring firewalls and networks for malware and collaborating with global and local teams to prevent and remove malware; Collaborate with IT business service partners on routine reviews of server room access and maintenance, and on firewall rules between the enterprise and production layers; Contribute to global production IT security teams on solutions and strategies for IT security challenges and implement agreed solutions on the Berkeley site; Collaborate with IT business services, process control systems, and industrial automation teams to introduce new technologies that improve data integrity and drive digitization and efficiency on the manufacturing floor; Update hardware for servers and networks, resolve network and connectivity issues, detect system and application issues, and ensure smooth flow of data and voice across the organization; Partner with global IT to troubleshoot and create solutions for complex IT-related issues; Support IT audits and drive remediation activities as needed; Deploy and manage OT security technologies, such as network monitoring and anomaly detection platforms; Demonstrate flexibility to changing priorities, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to apply multiple skill sets effectively. Who You Are Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Qualifications: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in IT, Engineering, or a related field with a focus on IT networks design and implementation; Strong experience maintaining and running IT systems, including IT security, patching, and switch configuration/setup; Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs) and hands-on experience with network security concepts (segmentation, firewalls, VPNs); Project management experience, including planning, coordinating, and delivering IT/OT network initiatives; Good planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment; Ability to work effectively with subordinates, peers, and senior management, building trust and alignment across functions. Preferred Qualifications: BS with 6+ years, MS with 0-4+ years, or PhD with 0-2+ years of relevant experience in IT or engineering roles focused on IT networks design and implementation; Experience working in the pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing industries; Professional certifications such as CCNA, GICSP, or CISSP; Experience with Azure, AWS, network automation/scripting, and cloud/edge integration with OT environments. Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $96,480 - $144,720. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
