Job description

Job Title: Project Manager UtilityScale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Department: Engineering & Construction (E&C) Business Unit
Team: Project Management Team
Location: Juno Beach, FL (In Office)

The Project Manager is responsible for leading advanced technical, financial, and regulatory planning for utilityscale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from early development through construction readiness. The role requires the application of advanced engineering, economic, and projectmanagement principles to optimize project scope, risk allocation, and financial feasibility across highly complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead advanced preconstruction planning and optimization for utilityscale BESS projects, integrating engineering design, financial modeling, procurement strategy, and regulatory constraints to support executive investment decisions.
  • Manage critical coordination of highly matrixed project development teams to ensure resources are focused on the right activities to meet project schedules.
  • Coordinate with environmental, regulatory, cultural, land acquisition, interconnection, and other project variables to ensure comprehensive project development.
  • Develop and optimize the project's technical scope and variables to improve both technical and financial feasibility.
  • Support origination and development teams with PPA and GIA negotiations, as well as jurisdictional requirements.
  • Coordinate engineering, estimating, and procurement needs to support the development of financial models and project designs.
  • Actively seek out and leverage market data to ensure the financial model is robust.
  • Present financial models to respective business units and manage them through executive budget approvals.
  • Competitively source, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts for critical services, including geotechnical, survey, engineering, and EPC/PC construction services.
  • Represent E&C's interests on assigned projects and engage in various software applications to support activities, manage critical data, and report on key indicators.
  • Actively communicate and interface with Executive Leadership, Suppliers, Regulatory Agencies, Local Communities, and other stakeholders.
  • Present project progress and risk mitigation strategies in meetings with various levels of management.
  • Ensure seamless handover of projects moving to the Construction stage to the Construction Project Manager with an inclusive and executable construction plan.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on engineering, economics, or construction preferred.
  • Technical experience with renewable energy projects, particularly electricity markets, renewables, and battery projects, is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Six Sigma experience are highly desired.
  • Advanced Excel skills and excellent project management, communication, financial, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Occasional travel may be required to project locations and to support Development with local public hearings.
