Job description

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) provides technical development and commercialization of domestic, sustainable sourcing of critical battery materials through lithium-ion battery recycling and battery metal extraction technologies for use in batteries that power electric cars, grid storage applications, and consumer electronics and tools. Our first of kind systems produce commercial-scale battery materials that are sold into the battery manufacturing supply chain.
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound material movements at ABTC’s recycling facility and offsite warehouse. This role ensures accurate receipt of materials against purchase orders, timely staging and shipment of outbound product, and precise documentation within SAP and OpenDock systems. The Shipping & Receiving Specialist will help model safety, accuracy, and operational excellence and will report directly to the Logistics Manager. This role will also provide cross-functional coverage for inventory control activities when required.

Requirements

  • Lead a culture of safety compliance, especially regarding loading, unloading, and material handling equipment.
  • Receive inbound shipments against purchase orders and verify quantities, condition, and documentation.
  • Create and manage outbound deliveries within SAP for all outbound shipments.
  • Utilize OpenDock to determine outbound product staging requirements and shipping lane assignments.
  • Load and unload trucks according to scheduled appointments.
  • Update and manage appointment statuses within OpenDock.
  • Upload, maintain, and verify all required appointment documentation in OpenDock, including BOLs, packing lists, seal numbers, and photos.
  • Ensure accurate handoff of information between shifts, including shipment status, exceptions, and priorities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and receiving area.
  • Communicate effectively with operations, inventory control, and logistics teams to resolve discrepancies or delays.
  • Provide coverage for Inventory Control Specialist duties as needed, including inventory transactions and physical counts.
  • Complete physical tasks as directed, including but not limited to pushing, pulling, gripping, twisting, and reaching.
  • Other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), SAP, or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience using dock scheduling or appointment management software (OpenDock or similar) preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., unassisted.
  • Experience operating a forklift or other powered industrial truck (PIT) equipment preferred.
  • Demonstrated safety track record in warehouse or industrial environments.
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Willingness to contribute at all levels of the organization and support cross-functional operations.
  • Must have a strong command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Inventory control experience preferred.
  • Leadership or shift handoff experience preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to walk throughout the plant and warehouse facilities.
  • Ability to bend at the waist and reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. routinely and up to 50 lbs. as required.
  • Ability to wear PPE, including but not limited to eye and face protection, hearing protection, respirators, and protective shoes or shoe coverings.
  • Must have 20/20 vision or corrected vision.
  • Ability to perform repetitive duties.
  • Ability to work in environments that may include exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals for extended periods.
