Job Summary and Qualifications

The Senior Application System Engineer will design, develop, maintain and test software for the ITG REBA PD team, collaborating with the development team and business partners to ensure successful delivery and implementation of application solutions in a dynamic Agile environment. The candidate must have the ability to achieve subject matter expertise quickly on new applications needed. This role requires proven track record in Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, AG Grid, .NET, C#, Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, SQL, SSRS, and related enterprise application frameworks.

This role will perform technical project assignments with limited supervision from higher-level engineers. Mentoring younger, less experienced engineers is mandatory. This role will serve as a technical lead for our GCN resources for many different applications within the portfolio. Position will provide technical knowledge and contribute to system-wide performance monitoring and tuning, business continuity planning, capacity planning, and hardware and software upgrade planning/implementation. Must demonstrate an ability to continually grow in identification, investigation, evaluation and become increasingly proficient in new technologies and technical disciplines that are of significance to HCA Healthcare.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Support strategic and operational initiatives for HCA Healthcare’s Strategic Pricing and Revenue/Cost Analytics Benchmarking

Collaborate with stakeholders, business users, and technical teams to ensure solutions meet business needs.

Analyzes and documents small scale component composition of System and subsystems.

Translate business requirements into actionable technical specifications

Engage with GCN and other external teams to deliver products and identify/resolve issues

Build and support applications using technologies such as Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, AG Grid, .NET, C#, Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, SQL, SSRS, SSIS, and related enterprise application frameworks

Design and develop REST APIs, OAuth, Token based authentication, backend services, batch jobs, system integrations, and data-driven application components

Work with relational databases and reporting platforms, including SQL Server, Oracle, SQL, SSRS, stored procedures, query tuning, indexing, and performance optimization

Support data design responsibilities including data modeling, ETL/batch processes, data validation, reporting needs, and application data flow design

Use scripting and automation tools such as Python, PowerShell, shell scripting, or similar technologies to improve operational efficiency and support application workflows

 Apply best practices, design patterns, API security, authentication, authorization and enterprise architecture principles

Support application performance tuning across UI, API, database, reporting, and batch processing layers

Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, Git-based source control, Azure DevOps, automated deployments, release management, and DevOps practices

Familiarity with cloud-native application development and deployment concepts, preferably within Google Cloud Platform, including services such as Cloud Run, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, fire store, Managed Airflow(Composer), Pub/Sub, IAM, logging, monitoring, and secure service integrations

Understand containerized and distributed application concepts, including scalability, observability, monitoring

Use AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar tools responsibly to improve productivity, documentation, unit testing, troubleshooting, and code quality while following enterprise security, compliance, and code review standards
