Overview:
Trinity Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as the Middle School Girls Basketball Assistant Coach. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for coaching and developing young athletes, as well as a commitment to fostering a positive team culture and promoting sportsmanship. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the athletic program of Trinity Academy and help student-athletes grow both on and off the court.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the varsity basketballprogram, including practices, matches, and off-season development.
  • Support and reinforce aculture of teamwork, sportsmanship, and Christ-centered leadership amongstudent-athletes.
  • Help develop and implementtraining programs focused on skill development, strength, conditioning,and basketball fundamentals.
  • Assist with game preparation,scouting reports, and in-game coaching responsibilities.
  • Provide leadership andmentorship to student-athletes while modeling Christian character andintegrity.
  • Engage with the broaderTrinity Academy community, including K-12 students, parents, and faculty,to promote and support the basketball program.
  • Assist with the middle schooland Junior Knights basketball programs to ensure continuity in skilldevelopment and program philosophy.
  • Support the organization andoperation of summer camps, clinics, and off-season training opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with KSHSAAregulations and Trinity Academy athletic department policies.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Team Training and Development
  • Assist in planning and conducting practices focusedon skill development, strategy, teamwork, and competitive excellence.
  • Provide individualizedinstruction and feedback to student-athletes to improve technical skillsand game understanding.
  • Foster a positive,encouraging, and inclusive team environment that emphasizes mutualrespect, accountability, and sportsmanship.

2. Game Preparation and Strategy
  • Assist the Head Coach in developing game plans andstrategies based on team strengths and opponent tendencies.
  • Help analyze team andindividual performances to identify areas for growth and improvement.
  • Support match-day operations,including warm-ups, statistics, player rotations, and bench management asassigned.
3. Student-Athlete Development and Support
  • Encourage and support student-athletes in theirspiritual growth through daily interactions, Bible study opportunities,and Christ-centered mentorship.
  • Promote academic success,character development, leadership, and personal responsibility.
  • Build meaningfulrelationships with players while serving as a positive role model both onand off the court.
  • Encourage athletes to pursueindividual and team goals while fostering a mindset of continuousimprovement.
4. Communication and Collaboration
  • Maintain positive and effective communication withplayers, parents, coaching staff, and school administration.
  • Collaborate with the HeadCoach and athletic department to coordinate schedules, events, and programinitiatives.
  • Assist in promoting the basketballprogram and supporting the overall mission of Trinity Academy athletics.
  • Uphold and enforce allschool, athletic department, and team policies and expectations.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Previouscoaching experience in basketball at the high school, middle school orclub level.
  • Knowledgeof volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Strongcommunication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectivelyinteract with players, parents, and colleagues.
  • Passionfor working with young athletes and helping them reach their fullpotential.
  • Commitmentto fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
  • Willingnessto comply with all school and athletic department policies andregulations.

Schedule:
The Assistant Basketball Coach position is part-time and seasonal, with practices and games typically held after school on weekdays. The coach will also be expected to attend occasional meetings and events outside of regular practice and game times, including the Trinity summer strength and conditioning program - Forging Knights.
