Job description

Overview
The Athletics Department is accepting applications for a Part-Time Public Address Announcer for Volleyball and Basketball. The successful candidate will assist with creating a professional, energetic and engaging game-day atmosphere at Auburn University at Montgomery athletic events.

Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Auburn University at Montgomery reserves the right once interviewing has begun to stop accepting applications. Based on funding source, applicant cannot be or become an AUM student while working in this position.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the public address announcer for assigned preseason, regular-season and postseason home contests for volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball.
  • Accurately pronounce the names of players, coaches and other individuals from both teams.
  • Maintain a positive, professional and respectful tone when announcing for all participating teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the Athletics game management team to ensure a smooth and professional event experience.
  • Review and rehearse player and coach pronunciations prior to each assigned contest.
  • Arrive at the venue approximately 30 minutes to one hour prior to the scheduled contest to prepare for the event and confirm all necessary information.
  • Remain on site until the conclusion of each assigned event.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and availability for evening and weekend events.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends.
  • Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One (1) year of experience serving as a public address announcer at an NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, AHSAA or AISA institution.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of applicable University, NCAA and Gulf South Conference rules, practices and procedures.
  • Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills.
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain composed and professional in a fast-paced, live-event environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to follow event scripts, instructions and established game management procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding names, pronunciations and game information.
