Job description

General Description
This is a full-time position that reports to the Athletic Director. This position is the Head Women's Basketball Coach and Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. The Coach will assist with operations relating to the women's and men's basketball team. Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting efforts, participating in practices, training student athletes, and other tasks. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations of the NJCAA and NJCAA Region II as they relate to the Women's Basketball Program
  • Responsible for coordinating student-athlete recruitment activities for the Women's Basketball team, including, but not limited to, tracking the admissions and eligibility process involving recruited student-athletes
  • Responsible for scheduling and supervising all practices and games, and submitting statistics to Region II and NJCAA national office
  • Make travel arrangements for the Women's Basketball team. Prepare for out-of-town travel by requesting meal money advances in a timely manner and by providing itemized receipts and group travel summaries upon return to the college
  • Encourage academic success, retention, and graduation of student-athletes. Responsible for monitoring and supporting the student-athlete's academic progress through monitoring study hall hours, obtaining feedback from faculty, and promoting graduation
  • Supervise volunteers aiding the Women's and Men's basketball teams
  • Ensure timely submission of a Volunteer Agreement to the office of Human Resources each year for every volunteer
  • Maintain equipment and facilities related to the Women's basketball program
  • Provide timely publicity and schedule updates to the Director of Marketing
  • Develop and participate in fundraising activities for the Athletic Department
  • Participate in all SEARK athletic committee meetings, and other staff meetings when requested, as well as mandatory coaches' meetings held by Region II and the NJCAA national office
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Women's Basketball program budget with the Athletic Director in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Participate in the annual athletic recognition program
  • Submit a mid-year and end-of-year program summary to the Athletic Director
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Assist with all operations of the Men's Basketball team

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three (3) years of experience in a position that requires coaching high school or intercollegiate baseball
  • Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) class C with P (passenger) endorsement within 3 months of date of hire.
  • Familiarity with college policies regarding athletics and NJCAA rules and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
