GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS Perform entry level professional duties of moderate difficulty providing the opportunity for professional training in various offices throughout the City. Perform assigned duties to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures and standards required for successful performance. Specific activities vary by department.
Work is performed under direct supervision. This internship is with the Parks and Recreation Department located at Kelly Recreation Complex, 404 Imperial Blvd. in Lakeland, FL.
Interns will work a maximum of 30 hours per week. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist in daily operations within Kelly Recreation Complex Assist with the execution of recreational sports leagues-including softball, flag football and kickball Setting up and tearing down recreation activities Reports hazardous conditions and accidents and administers first aid when needed. Instructs individuals and groups in recreational activities; maintains discipline in recreational areas.
Participates in staff meetings; assists in planning special events; provides information about programs to parents and other citizens. Ability to work flexible schedule, including nights and weekends ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform related work as required QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE) Enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree seeking program in an accredited college or university.
