Description
The Parish Housekeeper is responsible for the cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation services for those that reside in the parish rectory.
Essential Functions:
• Cleans and maintains specific areas of rectory on a daily basis:
o Cleans kitchen, hallways, washrooms, lavatories, rooms, offices, entrances, etc., on a daily basis
o Changes linens in rooms on a regular basis
o Dust all furniture on a regular basis, polish as needed
o Vacuum carpets and entryway rugs
    • Empty paper baskets and change liners, sweep and wet mop floor using proper cleaning solutions
    • Operate the dishwasher and handwash dishes when appropriate
    • Clean bathrooms, empty paper baskets, replace towels, toilet tissue and soap, clean toilets, clean sinks and mirrors, clean all counter tops, wet mop floor using hot water and appropriate cleaning solutions
    • Vacuum blinds, shades, and drapes on a regular basis
    • Washes all inside windows
    • Vacuuming and dusting of office areas on regular schedule
  • Develops cleaning schedule to assure rectory is maintained in an orderly manner
  • Provides laundry services for those who reside in the rectory. Washes and dries clothing and linens including any ironing that is needed
  • Prepares a list of supplies that are needed for the rectory
  • May be asked to help in the preparation of the daily meal a couple of times a week
  • Cleans living room and dining room, dusting and vacuuming
  • Sanitizes equipment needed to perform duties
  • May be asked to performs other duties and assume other responsibilities as directed

Requirements
  • Experience in housekeeping
  • Experience in completing a cleaning plan including, sweeping, dusting, washing, waxing
  • Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to keep inventory of supplies
  • Ability to adapt to changes in routine or schedule
  • Good manual dexterity

Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
Requires standing
Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials up to 25 pounds
Requires stooping, bending and reaching on a daily basis
Must work in and around fumes and odors
Exposure to cleaning agents
