Description
O JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: Works collaboratively with and under the direct supervision of a registered nurse to participate in the delivery of patient care for the improvement of quality of life for patients and families. Provides assistance to the nursing staff and physicians in preparing the patient and the Endoscopy Room environment for diagnostic and interventional procedures. Job is performed appropriately for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
1. Assists with the delivery of personalized care for Endoscopy patients.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Accountable for delegated patient care in assigned area.

  • Maintains and practices universal precautions and aseptic technique.

2. Performs technical procedures appropriate for patients.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
  • Provides assistance with endoscopy procedures according to protocol.

  • Responsible for proper set-up of the Endoscopy rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies.

  • Cleans equipment as required and follows departmental procedures for proper cleaning.

  • Administers medication that have been approved by the Endoscopy Service that are given during the endoscopy procedure under the direct supervision of the physician performing the procedure.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1 year work experience within a nursing tech or ENDO tech role preferred.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Certified Nursing Assistant Certification or Basic EMT Certification or Military Medic experience or Nursing Student with completion of fundamental nursing clinical in RN program preferred.
Endoscopy Technician Certification preferred.
HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Medical records without limitation both paper and electronic, patient demographics, lab and radiology results, films or cine, patient information related to surgery or appointment schedules, medical records related to quality/data, patient related complaints, information related to patient location, religious beliefs and/or research information.
