Your day.

As a EMT Ground Transport, you need to know how to:

  • Obtains patients vital signs to include blood pressure, pulse and temperature and understands normal ranges and changes. Informs RNs or Physician of changes in vital signs
  • Works with EMT or Paramedic partner to provide safe transport of patients between hospital and receiving facility.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
  • Conducts an inspection of ambulance and equipment at the beginning of each shift to ensure ability to care for patients
  • Establishes and maintains effective radio communication with HELP Flight dispatch and other agencies
  • Initiates department standing orders in appropriate patients. Performs basic airway techniques including oxygen therapy. 
  • Participates in HELP Flight Safety committee
  • Able to load and unload ambulance stretcher with one person assist
  • Completes an initial assessment of the patient and documents in the EMR.
  • Initiates needed interventions to support safe patient transport
  • Provides safe movement of patients, applying principles of safe patient handling.

  • Completion of Basic EMT training program or Paramedic Training is required in the state of practice.
  • Preferred: Emergency Vehicle Operator Course or equivalent
  • Must have current Montana and National Registry 
  • Emergency Medical Technician certification
  • Must maintain current AHA Basic Life Support Certification
  • Must have valid and unrestricted United States Drivers License
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as an EMT
