Job description

Job purpose

Here at Funtown Splashtown USA, we are serious about the safety and health of our guests and team members, and always have an E.M.T. on-site whenever the park is open. We maintain a progressive EMS department with an Automated External Defibrillator and a reduced latex workplace that provides care at the EMT Basic Level.

Duties and responsibilities

Provide and maintain a safe, fun, and clean atmosphere for our guests and employees

  • Walk around Funtown and Splashtown parks, thus making a presence known to our guests and staff.
  • Monitoring guests,as well asduring park walk-throughs,for any unsafe actions. Putting a stop to any immediate life-threatening actions. Notify park management of any unsafe observations or occurrences.
  • Enforce all park policies as pertains to safety.

Provide emergency care to our guests and employees up to the BLS Level.

  • Responds to a request for service from our guests and employees.
  • Treats guests and employees according to Funtown Splashtown Park EMS Department Operations Manual.
  • Activates 911 / ALS care when a higher level of patient care is needed or assistance is needed for any other reason.

Complete all documentation/paperwork as necessary

  • Obtains demographic information for all guests and employees treated.
  • Completes quick sheets for ALL CALLS.
  • Completes full patient care report and addendums (as needed) for all calls designated as high-risk calls.
  • Completes incident reports and obtain witness statements for all calls designated as high-risk calls needing such reports.
  • Have any employee seen by EMS complete incident statement, regardless of whether full report needed or not.
  • Documents refusal of care as needed.

Perform checks of EMS equipment and inventory of supplies

  • Perform equipment safety checks prior to the start of every shift.
  • Inventory and replenish individual response bags prior to the start of every day.
  • Inventory and replenish specialty response bags prior to the start of every day.
  • Perform daily safety checks of park fire extinguishers, sharp containers, backboards, wheelchairs, and eye wash stations.

Comply with all policies of Funtown Splashtown USA

  • Follow all policies and procedures of the EMS Department
  • Maintain professional appearance following all uniform guidelines.
  • Attend all required department, interdepartmental, and park trainings.
  • Assist as needed with any other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualification: Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
  • Maine Licensed EMT Basic or higher
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Firefighting experience and at least one year working as an EMT is desired.
  • A successful applicant will have strong verbal and written communication skills and a friendly, positive attitude who is able to work alone and as part of a team.

Working conditions

  • As an EMT, your work space is wherever your patient is; you must be able to adapt to a constantly changing work environment.
  • While you do have an air-conditioned office, you will be outside and Maine weather is unpredictable. We operate in most summer weather conditions, so we ask that you dress appropriately and are prepared for light to heavy rain, changes in temperature, and humidity. You may be in direct/indirect sunlight for long periods of time.
  • You may, at times, have to get in a pool in the waterpark to provide patient care, but we do have lifeguards on staff as well.
  • We also suggest that you always come prepared with snacks, meals, and a water bottle full of water.

Physical requirements

  • The nature of your job requires that you be able to lift patients and move patients as needed.
  • You should also be able to sit, stand, and walk around for long periods of time.
  • You should be able to carry a shoulder style backpack that weights up to 30 lbs. for long periods of time.
