Job Description:

Savannah Technical Collegeseeksafull-timeInstructor for the Basic Law Enforcement Program. This individual will provide theory and practical instruction to a level sufficient for students to develop the skills necessary to complete the Basic Law Enforcement Certification Technical Certificate of Credit.

Responsibilities (this list is not intended to be exhaustive)

  • Instructing students, developing program syllabi,goalsandobjectives;

  • Evaluating students' progress inattaininggoals andobjectives;

  • Maintaining program certification requirements, asappropriate;

  • Preparing andmaintainingall required documentation and administrative reports;

  • Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops,seminarsand conferences;

  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom and lab environment;

  • Working diligently to maximize student placements in this field or related fields;

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Criminal Justiceor in a related field with 10graduate hours in Criminal Justiceor related law enforcement experience.

  • GeorgiaP.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards Training) Instructor Certification(in good standing).

  • Three (3) years of full-time law enforcement experience.

  • Proven experience inmaintaininglesson plans and course notebooks that reflect current curriculum.

  • Ability to use a variety of teaching methods tofacilitateadult learning and provide educationalassistanceto individual students as needed.

  • Knowledge of current trends and conditions of local business and industry.

  • Experience in designing and implementing quality improvement programs.

  • Valid driver's license and insurabilityrequired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Georgia P.O.S.T. Firearms Instructor, EVOC, Defensive Tactics Certification and other high liability certifications strongly preferred.

  • Teaching experience in a college or university strongly preferred

Physical Demands

The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to mediumweight, andmust be able tolift upto 50 pounds. Work is typically performed in an office/laboratory environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings.Fullrange of hand and finger motion isrequiredfor data entry purposes.
