Job description

Assistant Baseball Coach
The Supplemental Pay Schedule allows for various assistant coaching positions at each high school.
To be eligible for a supplement for Assistant Coach, individuals are expected to meet the following qualifications:
*Reports to the Head Coach
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Adheres to all general coaching policies.
2. Acts in the absence of head coach.
3. Completes the State required concussion course prior to the start of
the first practice. Works closely with the athletic trainers in providing a safe environment for the student athletes.
4. Requires sound, acceptable coaching/teaching techniques.
    a. Uses sound and acceptable teaching practices.
    b. Runs well-organized practice sessions.
    c. Completes pre-season planning well in advance of the starting date.
    d. Adheres to highly efficient and technically sound programs of injury prevention.
    e. Constructs a well-organized game plan.
    f. Develops a system for equipment accountability.
    g. Keeps assistant coaches, student managers, and statisticians well informed about expectations.
    h. Cooperates fully with maintenance and transportation staff as well as others involved in the athletics program.
5. Gives support to all endorsed activities of the school. Students will be
polite, courteous, and fair to visiting teams.
6. Responsible for every facet of discipline by modeling proper behavior.
This includes attitudes toward school codes, training rules, rules of the game, ideals of good sportsmanship, and behavior of participants throughout the season. The coach represents Isle of Wight County Schools and the community that supports the school and Virginia High School League policies.
7. Supervises students in their charge at all times, both before and after
activities or practices.
8. Carries out duties as assigned by Head Coach.
