Job description

MLB is looking for Technical Project Managers who are passionate about delivering some of the most sophisticated products and services in professional sports. Launched as MLBAM in 2001 as the technical arm of Major League Baseball, we are renowned for creating experiences that baseball fans love and strive to continue to be the best place to stream baseball!

 As a Technical Project Manager, you will work in an Agile environment with product and engineering partners to drive the delivery of streaming experiences to market. You will be responsible for managing the roadmaps and deliverables for assigned teams and for ensuring clear communication, cross-team coordination, and proactive risk management for projects under your guidance.

Responsibilities

Collaboration

  • Coach one to two assigned teams on Agile practices (sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, retrospectives) to improve team health and predictability

  • Work closely with product owners and stakeholders to distill technical requirements into actionable user stories or specifications for engineers and designers

  • Track and coordinate dependencies across assigned teams and partner teams to support delivery of cross-functional projects

  • Partner with vertical leadership to establish consistent processes and help achieve business goals

Communication

  • Manage project communications to ensure transparency to internal and external stakeholders

  • Identify, analyze, and proactively escalate risks and issues with appropriate mitigation plans across teams and stakeholders

  • Bring structure to ambiguous situations by clarifying options, surfacing tradeoffs, and helping teams move toward decisions

Execution

  • Coach one to two teams to consistently deliver outcomes and to adapt in a fast-paced business environment

  • Drive delivery and execution of assigned projects, working across teams to manage dependencies and mitigate risks to achieve the projects' goals

  • Identify opportunities for improvement to promote both individual growth and team performance

Technology

  • Maintain a working understanding of teams' products and technologies in order to support effective delivery

  • Preferred experience working on software engineering projects (Web, Mobile, Connected Devices, etc.) or infrastructure-related projects (Database, Cloud Migration, etc.)

 Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of experience coordinating mid-to-large software development efforts across multiple Agile teams

  • Effectively communicates with both technical and non-technical participants, including clear status, risk, and dependency reporting

  • Hands-on experience working day-to-day with engineering and product teams in an Agile environment

  • Demonstrated process improvement mindset with a track record of making teams more effective

  • Fluency in delivery and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Slack, Google Workspace, and/or Outlook

  • Strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and ownership mentality

  • Passionate about continually improving processes and making teams as successful as possible

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMP, or similar certification

  • Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science

  • Familiarity with automation and AI-assisted development tools (such as Cursor, Codex, or Claude Code) or a willingness to learn and apply them to streamline workflows

  • Background in video streaming platform and/or video client development environment

Salary Range: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00 (Base Salary) + Bonus

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
