POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: JV/Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
SEASON/HOURS: Temporary/ Part Time
At Calvary Christian Academy, a ministry of Calvary Chapel, we are a community of Christian believers who exist to make disciples of Jesus Christ through a biblical school environment that prepares students to glorify God spiritually, academically, and socially. Our vision is to reach our community and change our world. As a minister and staff member, it is not only what we do, it is also who we are.
Purpose Statement:
The Coach provides assistance and training to the students and prepares them to perform in the capacity being trained for.
Scope:
1 Peter 5:2-3 - Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Disciple young men, demonstrate a commitment to excellence, and display character at all times
  • Execute the plan designed by the Athletics Director and Head Coach
  • Attend Coaches meetings
  • Be accountable for personal growth as well as church, outreach and family
  • Continuing education and mastery of the game (i.e. schemes, techniques)
  • Assist with field/weight room/locker room set up and break down
  • Counseling resource for the players

  • A strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ
  • A strong commitment to the philosophies and Statement of Faith of Calvary Chapel
  • Previous coaching experience in desired sport of application
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A good working relationship with children, parents and staff

  • Able to remain calm and organized during busy schedules

  • Able to counsel, comfort, and offer support to students
  • Able to maintain order and structure in a large group of children
