Job description

Technology Director, Baseball
Reports to: Head of Baseball
Contract: Full‑Time, Permanent
Location: Atlanta, GA required.
Role Overview
Hawk-Eye Innovations is seeking a Technology Director, Baseball to lead the deployment, reliability and scalability of all Hawk-Eye and KinaTrax baseball technologies across MLB, MiLB, NCAA and international venues. This role owns how we deploy and manage technology, from software releases to hardware roll-outs, and ensures platform stability, automation and service management at scale. Working across Solution Owners, Systems & Sales Engineering, Operations and R&D, the Tech Director drives platform progression and continuous improvement without owning day-to-day venue operations.
Responsibilities
Technology Deployment & Commissioning
  • Own the end-to-end software and hardware deployment process for new installations and upgrades.
  • Define acceptance criteria and manage factory acceptance, lab testing and field commissioning.
  • Ensure roll-outs meet reliability, latency and data-quality targets across all leagues and countries.

Service Management & Reliability Engineering
  • Lead the service management function, including incident response, root-cause analysis, change management and release governance.
  • Establish SLAs/OLAs for platform availability, latency and support response times; report KPIs and trends.
  • Build proactive monitoring, observability and automation tools to reduce manual intervention.

Platform Evolution & Automation
  • Drive continuous platform engineering initiatives to simplify deployments, unify software stacks and reduce operational complexity.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Systems & Sales Engineering to validate new hardware and software before wide release.
  • Champion automation and tooling to enable Operations to run more venues with fewer manual processes.

Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and develop TechOps managers, leads and engineers; set objectives and career paths.
  • Own the TechOps budget for per-kit cost, cloud, tooling and team costs; collaborate with the Operations Director on shared hardware costs.

Your Qualifications & Skills
  • 7+ years' experience in technical operations, DevOps, platform engineering or similar roles; 5+ years leading teams.
  • Proven track record deploying and operating large‑scale distributed systems or broadcast technologies.
  • Expertise in incident management, release management, automation tooling and infrastructure as code.
  • Strong stakeholder‑management skills; able to translate technical details for non‑technical audiences.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience with sports‑technology platforms, broadcast systems, edge or cloud computing.
  • Familiarity with Hawk‑Eye, KinaTrax or comparable tracking technologies.
  • Certifications in IT service management (ITIL), cloud platforms or network engineering.

Why This Is the Right Opportunity for You
This position is perfect for you if you're looking to play a pivotal role in delivering world-class baseball data to leagues, teams and fans, while shaping operational excellence in a fast-growing, technology-driven environment. You'll build scalable processes, lead a high-performing team and ensure every system installation meets the highest standards, giving the Head of Baseball the space to focus on strategic growth initiatives.
This role is not a Solution Owner, Operations Director, Systems & Sales Engineering Manager, Implementation/Project Manager or Hardware Operations Manager; it sits alongside these functions, focused on platform deployment and reliability rather than day-to-day operations, product roadmaps or field delivery.
At Hawk-Eye Innovations, we appreciate and value the importance of potential and growth. We look forward to receiving your application and exploring how you can contribute to the future of sports entertainment at Sony Sports.
Team Culture
At Hawk-Eye, we pride ourselves on a collaborative, high-performance culture where trust, passion, and innovation thrive. • We are Inclusive: We believe our diversity makes us stronger. We cultivate a welcoming environment where unique perspectives are valued, all while being united by our shared love for sports and technology.
