Smart Building Technologies is looking for a motivated Assistant Project Manager to help deliver innovative Building Automation System (BAS) projects that make buildings smarter, safer, and more energy efficient.
If you're organized, eager to learn, and ready to grow your career in project management, this is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced Project Managers while gaining hands-on experience managing commercial HVAC controls and building automation projects.
What You'll Do
As an Assistant Project Manager, you'll partner with our Project Managers to ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities include:
  • Assist Project Managers with planning, coordinating, and executing Building Automation System (BAS) projects.
  • Help develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and documentation.
  • Coordinate material orders, deliveries, subcontractors, and project logistics.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, field technicians, and internal teams to support successful project execution.
  • Attend project meetings and document meeting notes, action items, and project updates.
  • Assist with tracking project costs, change orders, invoices, and purchase orders.
  • Conduct occasional job site visits throughout the DMV area to monitor progress and support project coordination.
  • Help ensure projects meet quality standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Support project closeout by organizing documentation, warranties, and final project deliverables.
  • Learn Building Automation Systems, HVAC controls, and project management best practices from experienced industry professionals.

What We're Looking For
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent experience will also be considered.

Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience supporting construction, mechanical, electrical, controls, or Building Automation projects preferred.
  • Internship or coordinator experience in project management is a plus.

Skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management software is a plus.
  • A willingness to learn Building Automation Systems and grow into a Project Manager role.
