The Senior Chiller and HVAC Technician is a primary contact with the client and is expected to always represent QuesTec with utmost professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HVAC chiller systems such as Air- and Water-Cooled Chillers.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues.
- Service centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers from various manufacturers.
- Inspect, test, and maintain cooling towers, condenser water systems, pumps, and associated equipment.
- Analyze system performance and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
- Conduct refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak detection procedures in accordance with EPA regulations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Complete startup, commissioning, and operational testing of new equipment installations.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and computerized controls to identify and resolve system issues.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Communicate effectively with customers, facility managers, and team members regarding equipment conditions and recommended repairs.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service requests as needed.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school certification in HVAC/R, Mechanical Systems, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of commercial HVAC experience, with specialized chiller experience preferred.
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical systems, and HVAC controls.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Factory training or certifications from major chiller manufacturers.
- Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and energy management systems.
- Knowledge of VFDs, PLC controls, and advanced diagnostics.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with industrial, healthcare, data center, or mission-critical facilities.

- Ability to push, pull, carry and maneuver heavy items (with additional manpower or appropriate tools)
- Ability to lift ladders from vehicle racks, carry and climb ladders up to 28' in length

- Ability to feel, grasp, operate and position items with fingers and hands
- Ability to effectively perform work at ground level, above ground level, below ground level and in confined spaces
