Our rapidly growing company seeks an eager and hard-working professional to join our team as a full-time Building Automation System (BAS) Estimator to support the BAS corporate department of the Organization serving clients in the Washington, DC Metro Area.

Position Overview

The Building Automation System (BAS) Estimator is responsible for meeting the assigned annual BAS sales quotas. This exciting Career opportunity will provide Operational and Administrative support across the BAS corporate department and will work closely with our Management, Administrative, Sales & Proposal Generation and BAS Construction Operation Teams. We are looking for a self-motivated professional with a technical background and a track record or desire to pursue a career in Sales. This position is a customer facing role.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Reviewing and analyzing BAS project contract documents, plans and specifications to gain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the project requirements for developing sales estimates under the supervision of the Director of Energy Solutions.
  • Attending site visits/walk-throughs, reviewing plan and specification documents and Design/Build Statements of Work (SOW) to perform BAS project take-offs, Material & Labor Estimates and generate Cost Proposals under the supervision of the Director of Energy Solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with Company BAS vendors and suppliers.
  • Managing bids and pricing from subcontractors and vendors (as required).
  • Maintaining required Estimating Software (bidtracer) and data used for the preparation of Company estimates under the supervision of the Director of Energy Solutions.
  • Develop rapport and maintain a working relationship with assigned owners, End-Users, Consulting Engineering Firms, General Contractors, Design/Build Firms and Mechanical Contractors to secure contracts for the Company.
  • Generating new Sales Leads and conducting follow-ups after making initial contact with customers until the sale is closed.
  • Supporting the BAS Construction Team as a customer liaison to ensure that all project requirements are met.
  • Presenting and reviewing awarded estimate details to management during job costing setup.
  • Working with Operations and other internal teams on behalf of clients to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree from a US accredited four-year college or university with a minimum of 2 years professional experience is preferred but not required
  • Associate degree with a minimum of 5 years professional experience strongly considered
  • A minimum of 2 years professional experience working in the Building Automation System (BAS), Direct Digital Control (DDC), Energy Management or any other Controls field in a similar or related position is desired.

  • Must have experience with estimating software and/or Microsoft excel spreadsheet design.
  • Possess the expertise and talent in the areas of marketing, negotiation, selling systems requiring technical knowledge of the Industry.
  • Ability to be attentive and responsive to client concerns and provide solutions strategically.
  • Maintain professionalism when answering the phone, emails, and staff questions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with management and cross-functional teams, for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient in working with others to plan, conduct, and report work efforts.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task within time and technical constraints.
  • Ability to establish effective collaborative working relationships across different functional areas.
  • Must possess a high level of ownership, enthusiasm, and a collaborative, professional temperament.
