Bas Entry Level information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Basic Entry Level position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Basic Entry Level position, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer literacy, and foundational knowledge relevant to the industry. Familiarity with office software like Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace is often required. Strong communication, a willingness to learn, and dependability set standout candidates apart. These skills ensure that new employees can quickly adapt, contribute to team goals, and grow within the organization.

How to become a BAS technician?

To become a BAS (Building Automation System) technician, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, followed by specialized training or an associate degree in HVAC, electrical systems, or automation technology. Certification in BACnet or other relevant protocols can enhance job prospects, and hands-on experience with control systems and troubleshooting is essential for entry-level roles.

What are 'Bas Entry Level' jobs?

BAS Entry Level jobs refer to entry-level positions focused on Building Automation Systems (BAS). These roles typically involve assisting in the installation, programming, and maintenance of automated controls for heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, and other building systems. Employees in these positions often work under the supervision of experienced technicians or engineers, learning to troubleshoot and optimize control systems for improved energy efficiency and comfort. BAS Entry Level jobs are ideal for individuals with a technical background or interest in electronics, HVAC, or computer programming.

What is the difference between Bas Entry Level vs Electrical Apprentice?

AspectBas Entry LevelElectrical Apprentice
Required CredentialsHigh school diploma or equivalent; basic technical knowledgeOften requires enrollment in an apprenticeship program; some certifications may be needed
Work EnvironmentConstruction sites, maintenance facilities, or industrial settingsOn-the-job training alongside licensed electricians, often in similar environments
Employer & Industry UsageEntry-level position in electrical or construction companiesApprenticeship programs sponsored by unions or companies in the electrical industry

The main difference is that a Bas Entry Level is an entry position requiring basic skills, while an Electrical Apprentice is in training, often enrolled in a formal apprenticeship program. Both roles work in similar environments and serve as stepping stones toward becoming a licensed electrician.

What is the best entry level job to start with?

Entry level jobs such as retail associate, administrative assistant, or customer service representative are common starting positions that require minimal experience and often offer on-the-job training. These roles help develop basic skills like communication, teamwork, and time management, which are valuable for future career growth.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Entry-level roles such as commercial truck drivers, sales representatives, or skilled trades like electricians can sometimes pay around $4,000 weekly, especially with overtime or commissions. These jobs often require specific skills, certifications, or training but do not necessarily require a college degree.

What jobs will be gone in the next 5 years?

Entry-level jobs such as data entry clerks and basic administrative roles are increasingly automated and may decline over the next five years. Jobs requiring repetitive tasks are most at risk, while roles that involve critical thinking, creativity, and technical skills are more likely to persist or grow.

What are some common challenges faced by entry-level business analysts, and how can they overcome them?

Entry-level business analysts often encounter challenges such as learning to interpret complex data, understanding business processes quickly, and effectively communicating findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. To overcome these, new analysts should actively seek mentorship from experienced colleagues, take advantage of training resources provided by their organization, and practice clear, concise communication. Building strong relationships with team members and asking questions can also help smooth the transition into the role and foster professional growth.

Job description

Join Our Mission-Driven Energy Team!

We are an energy services company reinventing the way energy is used in buildings. We engineer energy upgrades, implement them, and track savings to ensure lasting impact. Our clients include many Fortune 500 companies, and our services span:

  • Engineering โ€” ASHRAE Level 1, 2, and 3 audits, retro-commissioning
  • Energy project implementation
  • Ongoing data analytics, fault detection, and diagnosis (FDD)

About the Role

We are seeking an entry-level Assistant Project Manager who is ready to take on big responsibilities in a growing, passionate team.

In this role, you will work on projects ranging from $50,000 to $4 million, supporting energy engineering and energy upgrades from start to finish โ€” including lighting, HVAC, controls, building envelope improvements, and compliance audits (ASHRAE Level I and II).

This is a field-forward role. Expect to be on-site at client buildings across the San Francisco Bay Area roughly 40% of the time, with occasional travel beyond the region.

Responsibilities

Project Engineer and Manager Support

  • Conduct site visits to assess and document existing building conditions
  • Collaborate with engineers to design high-value energy-saving measures
  • Develop project reports, including audit reports, scopes of work and bid packages
  • Coordinate trade subcontractors (lighting, mechanical/HVAC, and controls/BAS) from bid evaluation and selection through installation and on-site work
  • Help manage project budgets, schedules, and on-site execution
  • Support client communications, ensuring satisfaction and successful outcomes
  • Bridge between field realities and engineering design to meet or exceed energy saving goals
  • Own the trend-data workflow: pull and pre-process BAS trend data, run baseline regression models, and populate EcoCosm analysis templates
  • Perform on-site functional testing of AHUs, hot-water systems, and VAVs before and after repairs
  • Review sequences of operations and recommend optimal control strategies based on building needs, BAS capabilities, and ASHRAE controls guidelines
  • Maintain project documentation (test plans, meeting minutes, RFIs) and coordinate utility incentive programs such as AEP

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree preferably in STEM/Engineering related
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer-focused and professional demeanor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Project
  • Willingness and ability to travel regionally and nationally
  • Clean DMV record

Bonus Skills

  • Engineering background (mechanical, electrical, chemical, or related fields)
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency technologies and retro-commissioning (RCx)
  • Hands-on control system programming experience (beyond general BAS familiarity)
  • Knowledge of facilities maintenance practices and standards
  • Strong data entry and calculation skills, especially for energy modeling
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in various indoor/outdoor conditions
  • Entry-level experience in energy engineering, commissioning, MEP, or building systems, including hands-on field/site work
  • Experience conducting building energy audits (ASHRAE Level I and II)
  • Working familiarity with HVAC controls and building automation systems (BAS), and comfort coordinating directly with controls subcontractors (Siemens Desigo/Insight and PPCL coding a plus)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work on-site in commercial buildings, sometimes in tight, enclosed, or elevated spaces (e.g., mechanical rooms, rooftops, crawlspaces)
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8+ hours per day)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds

What We Offer

  • Meaningful, mission-driven work
  • Competitive salary
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Paid holidays and paid time off (PTO)
