Location: Washington DC / Bowie, MD / Alexandria, VA / Baltimore, MD

The Controls Technician III will provide technician support for Building Automation Systems (BAS), service contracts, system upgrades, and controls related service requests.

  • Provide responsive and professional customer service with the goal of building and maintaining long-term customer relationships.
  • Identify, analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot direct digital control systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, commissioning, and replacement modifications as needed or requested by customers.
  • Maintain building automation systems by inspecting trend logs, reports, schedules, applications, hardware, and programming.
  • Provide controls technical support to HVAC technicians.
  • Create and/or implement programming and graphics for new installations and retrofit projects.
  • Commission controls installations and verify that control sequences meet scope, design, or specifications.
  • Provide training and follow-ups for Customers and operations personnel.
  • Complete work orders and review with customers for accuracy.
  • Continually look for ways to improve our processes and ability to serve our customers effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years related experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs with or without an accommodation.
  • Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Current first aid / CPR card.
  • Proficiency with test instruments and calibration tools.
  • Competency in operation of engineering/commissioning tools, DDC controllers and field devices, BACnet protocol fundamentals.
  • Competency in the operation of HVAC equipment and controls.
  • Ability to understand written sequences of operation.
  • Ability to read low voltage wiring diagrams and controls flow diagrams.
  • Niagara AX and/or Niagara 4 certification.
  • Experience with any common integration protocols such as: BACnet MST / IP, LON, Modbus TCP / RTU, Ethernet OIP, MQTT, or SQL.
  • Strong computer skills, including computer networking fundamentals.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer-focused, results-oriented professional, and strong team player.
  • Motivated self-starter that demonstrates initiative.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized.
