Job Description:
Job Summary
The Plant Clerk performs administrative, clerical, and scale house functions to support efficient plant operations. Responsibilities include managing truck traffic, maintaining records, processing transactions, and providing customer service to visitors, drivers, and internal stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities
  • Perform general receptionist duties, such as greeting customers and visitors, answering phone calls, determining the nature of business, and directing parties to the appropriate destination.
  • Enter, track, maintain, and report required information into the companies' different software programs (JD Edwards, JWS, OnBase, Excel).
  • Weigh trucks; prepare scale tickets and direct drivers to appropriate loading points.
  • Brief visitors on safety policies and procedures and issue hard hats and safety glasses when going into restrictive areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Good grammar, spelling, and proofreading abilities
  • Ability to work with numbers in detail with accuracy
  • Basic computer skills, with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently
  • Ability to work with the public

Physical Requirements
  • Most work performed in an office environment, quiet to moderate noise level
  • Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 35 pounds
  • Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects and operate a computer
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
  • Sitting for long periods at a desk using a computer with intermittent breaks
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; visiting work sites may require walking over uneven terrain and some exposure to dust, chemicals, and loud noise
