What is a Baron?

A Baron is a noble title of varying rank in different European countries, often considered one of the lowest ranks of the nobility. In the United Kingdom, a Baron is a member of the peerage and may sit in the House of Lords if granted a peerage title. Barons historically held land from the monarch in exchange for loyalty and service, particularly during the feudal era. Today, the title is mostly ceremonial and does not carry significant political power, but it remains a symbol of status and heritage.
